Telemedicine Now Available in Philippines

Telemedicine is now allowing doctors to diagnose and recommend treatment options to patients in rural areas of the Philippines. This project is being managed in Manila, Philippines by the Department of Science and Technology, Manila Bulletin reports. Telemedicine, is being operated through a multi-platform that runs off of a government broadband called, Philippines Research, Education and Government Information Network (PREGINET). These “telemedicine sessions” make it possible for doctors to access and transfer medical records, still images, and live audio and visual transmissions.

CMS Announced Final Additions to Telehealth Reimbursement Codes

November 2, 2010, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced that it has finalized all additions to its telehealth reimbursement codes. These codes were originally introduced in June 2010. These additions will be effective as of January 1, 2011. Please find attached the CMS Final Rule for Medicare Program; Payment Policies Under the Physician Fee Schedule and Other Revisions to Part B for CY 2011.
