Who is CTeL?

CTeL (Center for Telehealth and e-Health Law) is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit research institute which focuses on the legal and regulatory aspects of digital health. Since 1995, CTeL has been at the forefront of research, education, and advocacy on digital health – telehealth, remote monitoring, and AI.

We are dedicated to conducting evidence-based research which shapes impactful policy and legislative advancements while fostering equitable and high-quality telehealth care accessible to all. We understand the importance and value of accessible, quality health care when, how, and where it is needed.

Our mission is to help healthcare providers, legal and regulatory professionals, and policymakers navigate the complex legal and regulatory landscape of digital health, in the areas of telehealth, remote monitoring, artificial intelligence, and future technologies.

Since 1995, we have been at the forefront of digital health policy, advocating for policies and initiatives that promote access, equity, and safety in technology-enabled healthcare. Our team of legal and regulatory experts conduct research and analysis on digital health laws, regulations, and policies, both in the U.S. and internationally. We provide our members with the latest information and insights on licensing, reimbursement, privacy, and other issues that affect the adoption and implementation of digital health solutions.

At CTeL, we believe that technology has the power to transform healthcare delivery and improve patient outcomes. However, we also recognize that there are legal and regulatory challenges that can hinder the growth of digital health. That's why we work to develop policies, initiatives, and best practices that benefit our members and the broader healthcare community.

Our Mission:

To advance the understanding of legal, regulatory, and policy issues related to digital health through innovative research and analysis by providing objective and evidence-based insights which inform policy and shape the legal landscape surrounding digital health.

Our Vision:

To be a thought leader and trusted agnostic source of information on digital health law and policy by creating a world where technology-enabled healthcare solutions are accessible, equitable, and safe. We envision a future where digital health innovations are supported by a robust and updated legal and policy framework which provides patient’s access to quality healthcare, equitable reimbursement for all licensee groups, ensures data privacy and security, and fosters innovation.

CTeL offers a variety of services to our members and the broader telehealth community; focusing on three main areas: Research, Policy, and Action.
